Known for the beach, outdoor space, and incredible sunsets, the Sunset District neighborhood of San Francisco is perfect for people who love outdoor activities. Filled with mid-century-modern homes, beach-loving locals, and a relaxed vibe, the Sunset District is the go-to for weekend activities. Of course, golf is one of the many outdoor weekend activities loved by locals. While there aren't any courses within the limits of the sunset district, there are a handful of golf courses within a 5-minute drive from the Sunset District.

Along the northern edge of the Sunset District you will find the iconic Golden Gate Park. Golden Gate Park is iconic for their variety of gardens, museums, and their golf course. Built in 1951, Golden Gate Park Golf Course is shaped by the sand dunes on which it was developed. Located two blocks from Ocean Beach makes it a favorite weekend activity for local Sunset District Residents. Nestled among aged cypress trees on the western edge of the park, and features a 9 hole, par 3 course with challenging holes ranging from 100 yards to 200 yards. Golden Gate Golf Course has something to offer all types of players including an instructor to help improve your swing!

Located in Lake Merced Park is TPC Harding Park. Built for the pros, experienced by you. Harding Park was substantially renovated in 2005 to better suit it for PGA TOUR Champions events. This 18-hole course runs along Merced Lake and is surrounded by San Francisco's infamous Cypress Trees. You'll forget you're in the heart of a bustling city while enjoying this sprawling course. TPC Harding also has a state-of-the-art driving range to help you improve your skill set, or if you just want to golf without all the walking. Named after former city gold caretaker Jack Flemming, this nine-hole golf course was added to the interior of Harding Park Course in 1961. This challenging par-30 golf course measures 2,165 yards from the member tees and 1,865 yards from the forward trees. The longest hole is the opening hole, a 405-yard par-4. On the other side of the Richmond District is a must-see course called Lincoln Park Golf Course. In 1902, a 3 hole course was built by local golf lovers. By 1914, the course expanded to 14 holes and then to the full 18 holes in 1917. Enjoy incredible views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Pacific Ocean, Legion of Honor Museum, and Marin.
