Did you know the city of San Francisco is giving away free toilets?
Yep! San Francisco wants to install some new toilets in your bathroom. The aim? To replace water-chugging fixtures with more modern and water-efficient versions.
This has already been a point of sale requirement for years, meaning that when you sell your house, the city requires you to upgrade plumbing fixtures and toilets to low-flow versions. It's been a way to slowly improve the water-efficiency of our older housing stock. But the city hasn't paid for it and they CERTAINLY haven't arranged for installation (ahem, that's usually us), which they are now offering to do.
The deadline to apply is March 7th, so time's a-wastin'.
If your current toilet is more than 1.6 gallons per flush and you have an SFPUC account, you may qualify for the program.
Looking for a wall-mounted, bidet-adorned Toto Neorest? Probably look elsewhere. If you have a basic potty that could use an upgrade, this is the perfect fit.
Get more details and apply for your free, city-installed toilet here.
