If we had a nickel for every time we heard this from our sellers….
"It looks so good, now I don't want to leave!"
or….
"Why didn't I do this while I was living here?!"
If your dreams of a more stylish kitchen have been dashed by the prospect of interviewing a dozen contractors just to spend $100k and weeks in permitting purgatory… this is for you!
First, a quick trip back in time:
Twenty years ago, the process of putting a house on the market was MUCH simpler. After calling the cleaners, packing personal photos, and painting a wall or two, you were ready for the For Sale sign.
Today, not so much. To capture top dollar, a home needs to look stylish and current. And that needs to happen on a budget and in a hurry. Suffice to say… we've gotten pretty darn good at it.
But why wait until you're going to sell? What if you could enjoy a fresh look while you're still living in your house? Much more fun, right?
Here are some of our best "tricks of the trade" for going from sad to chic without diving into a huge, messy remodel.
Much less difficult than most people think and has a huge visual impact. If you're intrepid, you don't even need to hire a contractor! Many countertop stores will work with you directly to arrange installation.
Cost, as always, depends on which material you choose, size of the kitchen, complicating factors, etc. A simple white quartz, installed, is usually in the neighborhood of $5k-$8k.
If you've watched DIY shows, you know the magic of a good coat of paint. Most kitchen cabinets can be repainted to look new for a small fraction of the cost and hassle of replacement. Again, big surface means outsized visual impact. No demolition needed!
Make sure you have the right painter - this is not a job for the "B" team.
Expect to pay something in the range of $5k-$9k.
A new sink, faucet, and cabinet hardware are the perfect finishing touches. For items like cabinet pulls and knobs you can splurge on something special for very little cost.
