Perhaps you feel your property has been unfairly assessed, or that your property value has decreased so that the previous assessed value is no longer accurate. In the event you'd like to appeal your tax bill, now is the time.
You may request a tax reduction with the Assessment Appeals Board until September 15, 2024 for Alameda County and November 30, 2024 for Contra Costa. These are the deadlines for Formal Appeals.
Each year there are specific windows for filing property tax appeals, so paying attention to these dates is critical. Here are some helpful links to find the forms that you need, as well as instructions for going through the appeals process.

You'll need to provide either comparable sales or an official appraisal to support the value you're proposing in your appeal. While appraisals are expensive, we can provide you with comparable sales at no cost. We are happy to assist! Contact us anytime.
