The Sunset District of San Francisco is not in the center of the city, but it has incredible accessibility to public transportation. A number of major cities in California have invested a sizeable amount of resources to create an efficient public transportation system. San Francisco is no exception! The Sunset District is almost entirely a grid and flat, making it an excellent neighborhood for utilizing public transportation.
The beloved Muni system is a city staple, and is an amazing public transportation option in the Sunset District. Muni includes a web of bus lines including rapid buses and metro rail. Some buses in the Sunset District come every 5, 10, 12, 20, and 30 minutes. These lines can take you all the way across the city and can help you cross the bay. If you take Muni to BART, CalTrain, or SamTrans, you can travel as far as Millbrae, Richmond, Antioch, Dublin/Pleasanton, North San José, and even Half Moon Bay.
