The Sunset District of San Francisco is full of a variety of playgrounds for the whole family to enjoy. Here is a brief list of the top playgrounds the locals love. From West Sunset Playground to the Sunset Rec Center Playground, there is something for everyone.
Established in 1940 off of 29th avenue in the sunset district of San Francisco, the Sunset Rec Center is a long-standing playground. As the Sunset District neighborhood grew, the playground grew into a playground plus rec center, tennis court, basketball court, gymnasium, and so much more! Now the Sunset Rec Center is a neighborhood staple. With accessible parking, playgrounds, and restrooms, everyone can enjoy this playground in the Sunset District.
Located in Parkside Square, Bob Cheney Field is equipped with rubber flooring, fencing, swings, sands, slides, see-saws, and even a boat playhouse. In addition to the playground, there are tennis courts, basketball courts, a little league field, and a large grassy area. Local Sunset District residents love the shade from the trees and ample parking. This playground even has restrooms!
In Carl Larsen Park, you'll find an airport-themed playground for the kiddos. From an airplane playhouse to a baggage claim slide, this park will have your kids flying! With various climbing apparatus, and bathrooms right next to the playground, your kids can play all day at this Sunset District playground.
Near Sunset Elementary and the Ortega Branch Library is a vast playground for children. West Sunset Playground features climbable netting, slides, swings, and monkey bars. Locals love the security fence around the perimeter and the shade from the trees. This park takes reservations for the picnic areas too, great for birthday celebrations.
South Sunset Fields Playground is a smaller playground packed with slides, swings, and climbable surfaces. Surrounded by a fence and colorful tile murals, this park is a local favorite. Around this playground you'll find the South Sunset Community Center, diamond, soccer field, and tennis court.
